MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A small private college in East Tennessee is reducing tuition by 20 percent.
Hiwassee College in Madisonville will cut student tuition cost by $6,000 per year. That's $24,000 saved on a four-year undergraduate degree.
Trustees Chairman Karl Jordan said the move will help middle class families who have too much income to qualify for financial benefits, but not enough to afford private college for their children.
Beginning next fall, a residential student will be able to attend Hiwassee for under $20,000 per year, including tuition, fees, room and board.
Hiwassee College is a liberal arts school, affiliated with the United Methodist Church
