KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- As of Sunday night, KARM housed more than 200 people. Many of them seeking shelter since Thursday, during the biggest snow storm we've seen this winter.

"We just don't want anybody staying the night out on the street and not wake up the next day," said Burt Rosen, CEO of Knox Area Rescue Ministries.

Many more turned to KARM Monday evening to escape another bitter cold.

"We try to do what we can to stay warm here," said Kennedy.

"We all watch out for each other and take care of each other," Teresa Berg said.

According to KARM, they're not at full capacity but expect the beds to fill up fast. But no matter how busy they get, no one will be turned away.

"We'll provide shelter for anyone who needs it. It may be a mat on the floor to get people out from the cold but we'll make sure people have what they need," Rosen said.

Folks, like Teresa Berg, are thankful for being cared for. Many of them hope they're somewhere else next winter.

"To be in a home of my own hopefully," Berg said. "Working on it."
