KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Sarah Van Sickle of Knoxville has won an international female-focused competition to redefine the female athlete.

Van Sickle met up with Local 8 News for what she thought was an interview to talk about her involvement in the Under Armour's What's Beautiful Challenge. But she was in for a surprise.

During the interview, the former UT soccer player and now local inspiration received a call from Adrienne Lofton Shaw, the senior director of women's marketing for the company.

"What really inspired us most is your goal. The fact that You didn't look at yourself. You looked at others and were selfless," Lofton Shaw said. "When we watched you take your workouts from 29 women to 200 plus women, that just blew us away."

As part of the competition, Van Sickle set a different kind of goal for herself. She's dedicated her summer to help women in Knoxville find their inner beauty through a program, "What's Beautiful: Team Knoxville."

At first glance, it may seem like a typical workout session, but it's not.

More than 200 women of all ages and fitness levels have signed up to participate in the free boot camp. It started as a 7-week program but Van Sickle has extended it through the month of July because of the turnout.

"We've got women who are over 300 pounds in our group and we've got women who are UT soccer players," Van Sickle said about the members in the program that goes beyond physical fitness.

"It's changing how they see themselves," she sid.

Surrounded by more than 15 of her WBTK family, Van Sickle was shocked and humbled by the announcement.

She wins an Under Armour sponsorship deal that includes training and athletic gear for one year.

There were three other winners.
