Crimetracker: Lovell pleads guilty to dragging Little Brown Dog, drug charges

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Jimmy Lovell, the man accused of dragging a dog behind a truck, pleaded guilty to animal abuse and dealing drugs.

He received a three-year sentence for aggravated animal abuse and two counts of drug charges on Wednesday.

Last year, Lovell went to trial for dragging a terrier mix also known as the "Little Brown Dog" behind a truck in November 2009. He claimed it was not intentional and didn't have the money to take the dog to the vet.

Lovell will serve 6 months in jail. He's to report on May 1st to serve his sentence.

After serving his time, he will be placed on state probation.
