SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Sevier County deputies have arrested a man for bigamy after his wife found out he has more than one wife.
Deputies arrested Phillip Marion on Wednesday evening and took him to the Sevier County Jail.
His wife, Terrie Marion, went to the Sevier County Magistrate's Office early Wednesday morning. She had documents to show Phillip Marion was married to her, but had never divorced 2 other women. Terrie says she had been with her husband for 12 years.
"I was hurt deeply, and a lot of anger. a lot of anger for him to do that. and come into a marriage knowing he was already married," said Terrie Keeble Marion. "I want this to stop for all women. Obviously it's very common and there's not a lot of good enforcement on this."
Terrie says she found Phillip was married first in 1992 to a woman in Ohio, and 2nd to a South Carolina woman in 2000.
Terrie says she found out about the marriage to the South Carolina woman after mail started arriving in the woman's name. Shortly after Terrie and Phillip separated.
Terrie says Tuesday she went to Sevier County Chancery Court where she found Phillip had filed in February 2013 for Divorce from the Ohio woman.
Terrie hopes by coming forward will other women won't have to go through the stress she's had the past few months.
"I want this to stop for all women. Obviously it's not very common and there's not a lot of good enforcement on this," Terrie said. "It hurts because I loved him with all my heart. and for someone to do anything like that, it's just immoral it's just horrible you don't do that to anybody."
