Man convicted of kidnapping and holding woman for 5 days

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Sevier County jury has convicted a man for kidnapping and holding a woman against her will in a hotel room for 5 days.

Ernest Pyle was convicted of two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping and one county of resisting arrest.

According to James Dunn, District Attorney General, the jury convicted Pyle for kidnapping his girlfriend when she wanted to return to Indiana. Evidence showed that Pyle and the girlfriend were on the run from authorities in Indiana.

Prosecutors say Pyle had handcuffed her, rapped and threatened her life with various tools he bought during the 5 days.

He will be sentenced on January 23, 2013.
