Man found floating in Blount County waterway identified

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)- Still no word on why a Maryville man's body was found floating in the Little River on Thursday.

But the man has been identified as 37-year-old David Houston Slaughter.

Preliminary results show his cause of death as drowning.

The sheriff's office says fishermen found Slaughter's body underneath Cloutler's Bridge at the intersection of Tuckaleechee Pike and Old Walland Highway.

An autopsy has been performed and toxicological results could take several months.
