Skateboarding 4,000 miles across Australia, riding a tandem bicycle almost 1,400 miles from Vancouver to Las Vegas in 14 days, Dave Cornthwaite has had quite a few adventures.
Starting on August 10th at 8:00 AM his latest expedition will take him on a swim down the Missouri River.
He calls himself an adventurer and an explorer.
"I skateboarded almost 4,000 miles across Australia," said Cornthwaite. "I paddle-boated the Mississippi last year."
"I'm going to be swimming the full thousand miles from Chamberlain, South Dakota to Saint Louis, Missouri," said Cornthwaite. "It's going to be a real physical challenge, I'm going to sleep pretty well at night."
Traveling around 20 miles a day, the trip will take nearly 2 months.
But don't worry he isn't going it alone.
His team will be paddling and canoeing behind him the whole way, but all of this isn't just for fun.
"My friend Kris was 23 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and she'd been misdiagnosed twice in the year leading up to that," said Cornthwaite. "And by the time they found it, it was stage 4, there's no stage 5."
Dave and his team hope raise $150,000 for a breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! and help other people get started on their own adventures.
"I'm not a swimmer, these guys aren't paddle-ists, we've just decided to challenge ourselves for the summer and we hope it inspires other people," said Cornthwaite. "And I promise you we'll get to Saint Louis."
If swimming down the Missouri isn't challenging enough Dave will tow his gear behind him the whole way on a raft.
He has a few plans for other adventures, like a paragliding-gliding journey across the Himalayas.
You can sponsor a mile of the journey and donate to CoppaFeel!
