MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Memphis police said an officer has been taken to a hospital with a non-critical wound after he was shot.
Police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph said officers responded to a call Monday afternoon about a man armed with a shotgun in east Memphis.
When police arrived at the location near businesses at a strip mall, the suspect opened fire, wounding one of the officers. The officer, whose name wasn't released, was transported to the Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition.
Police shot the suspect, who also was taken to a hospital. His condition isn't yet available.
Further details aren't available. Investigators were still at the scene Monday evening.
