BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn.(WVLT)-- According to authorities, 30 Tennessee courthouses and government buildings received bogus bomb threats Tuesday resulting in several evacuations.
Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security spokeswoman Dalya Qualls said that nine threats were reported in West Tennessee counties, including the federal building in Memphis. Qualls said there were six bomb threats in Middle Tennessee and 14 in East Tennessee.
Someone called in the threat to the Blount County courthouse just before 11am Tuesday. Deputies blocked off the entrances to investigate.
About the same time deputies evacuated the Greene County and Carter County courthouses as well.
Many buildings had to be evacuated after the threats. Qualls said no bombs were found.
Tennessee is at least the fourth state this month to deal with false bomb threats at courthouses. In Oregon, 28 courthouses were threatened last week, and similar threats were reported in Nebraska and Washington.
