Multiple wrecks reported across Knoxville area

With the weather as bad as it was Saturday morning, the Knoxville area saw multiple wrecks caused by the low visibility and ice on the roads.

Eight vehicles, including cars, a garbage truck, and a semi were involved in a collision on the I-40 ramp onto Alcoa Highway Saturday morning.

Dispatch confirmed the vehicles slid into one another on the ramp, causing a series of small wrecks.

Minor injuries were reported, and those suffering were transported to the hospital.

Other minor wrecks involving slick roads kept police busy all morning.
