Natural gas flame shoots over Alcoa Hwy.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A giant flame is towering over Alcoa Highway near Topside Drive as crews empty a natural gas pipeline that feeds KUB customers.

According to Spectra Energy, it's part of routine maintenance on the line. After all of the gas is burnt off, they will go in with cameras and tools to make sure the pipes are in good shape.

The flame is expected to last through the week.
