LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)--Looking for work? We might be able to help. A new company coming to Loudon County plans to hire nearly 200 workers.
Sugarlimb Industrial Park sits empty now, but soon it will have a new tile manufacturing plant and that means a lot of new jobs for Loudon county. Tammy Cheek said, "I've been looking since February and it's been really slow."
Tammy cheek comes here everyday hoping to find work. She heard the news about Italian tile manufacturer, Del Conca, opening shop here, bringing more than 170 new jobs. Tammy Cheek said, "I think it's great we really need the employment here. It's been hard finding jobs every time I get on the site. It's like I've already applied for those positions."
Del Conca makes ceramic tiles. You can find them in home improvement stores mainly in the Southeast. Loudon Co. Mayor Estelle Herron said, "We've lost one of our other plants that was here and we lost 200 jobs. So hopefully some of the folks can end up at new factory."
Del Conca pays 17 dollars an hour which is above average for our area and it offers good benefits. Herron says, "They're just super people. Really appreciative of the area and we're very thankful for them."
The first phase of the construction should be done by December next year.
They haven't started hiring yet, but when they do we'll post the information.
