KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)--It's almost time to usher in 2011.
We talked to two event organizers in Knoxville who will have you ringing in the new year in style.
We feature one on the Tennessee River and the other on Market Square.
The countdown is on till New Year's Eve in Knoxville.
The biggest celebration in East Tennessee is First Night in Market Square, expecting more than 10 thousand people.
President of Market Square District Association John Craig says, "Everybody will gather here on the square for countdown, ball drop and fireworks."
Before that, there will be a children's festival, activities and live entertainment for adults.
This little button will be your ticket to all the events on the square which will bring in people from 6 different states from as far away as Florida.
Craig says, "It's just a great event to come down here and ring in new year's eve with your neighbors."
Just a few blocks from there, the Star of Knoxville, an authentic paddle wheeler with a capacity 325 passengers, will be docking for a party at 9 and setting sail at 10.
Star of Knoxville President Mike Cheek says, "It's nice. Everybody thinks being on a boat it'd be cold, but the boat's enclosed and it's heated."
With two bars, a dance floor, live entertainment with Kimber Cleveland from Nashville, a prime rib dinner and a beautiful setting, this is a great option for water lovers.
Cheek says, "We've got a nice scenery and typically when we're coming back into downtown the Knoxville scenery is lit up and it's real pretty out."
So if you're looking for something fun to do, there are many options, the only problem is choosing one.
Good luck, and Happy New Year!!
