Next 'Cash Mob' location hopes for boost in business

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It's been a big boost for several businesses and now another South Knoxville shop is getting ready for a 'Cash Mob."

With each little snip and every new arrangement comes budding business for McLemore Florist. Things are about to get even better as a 'Cash Mob' starts to form. Owner Jeff Christian said, "We hope to see a good crowd out next Friday."

This time, Knoxville residents decided this business should be the benefactor, selecting the florist in an online poll. "It means a lot to us that the community supported us as well as they did and we really appreciate everybody that voted," said Christian.

Mayor Tim Burchett started the 'Cash Mob' about a year ago to help businesses struggling from the Henley Street Bridge closure.

The first one was held at Emery's 5 & 10. Owner Ron Emery said, "It was huge, people came from everywhere, it even surprised Mayor Burchett how many people we had."

Many of those shoppers became loyal customers. "People come in and say I didn't realize you had all this fun stuff and they come back and bring their families and that's helped us out long term," said Emery.

As the 'Cash Mob' approaches, McLemore Florist hopes business will bloom just in time for spring. "Hopefully people will realize South Knoxville's still in business and come not only to our shop but to other businesses in the area," said Christian.

The 'Cash Mob' will be held Friday, March 15 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at McLemore Florist on East Young Pike.
