KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knox County Sheriff's Deputy attempting to pull over a possible drunk driver ended up in a pursuit on I-40 that left one person injured Wednesday night, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The deputy tried to pull over a possible drunk driver on Asheville Hwy. in East Knox County just after 9 p.m. Wednesday night, but the driver instead kept going and took off on I-40 East.
The deputy followed the car for four minutes before the Sheriff's Office stopped the pursuit.
The car crashed into the woods off the Midway Rd. exit and a woman was taken by Rural Metro to UT Hospital.
Deputies are looking into whether anyone else was in the car at the time.
