UPDATE: Passenger thrown from SUV during rush hour wreck

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Two people were rushed to the hospital after an SUV flipped on a main west Knoxville thoroughfare right before rush hour Wednesday morning. According to EMTs on the scene both of them appeared to be "alright."

Police say they were heading west in the 9600 block of Kingston Pike, near Crowfield Road, when the driver lost control and went off the road, hitting a KUB pole. He managed to pull the SUV back onto Kingston Pike before going off the road again and hitting several trees.

The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and was found about 20 feet away.
