Weather Alert: Strong to severe storms are expected tonight
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Lady Vol Head Coach Emeritus Pat Summitt is in line to receive one of sports most prestigious honors this summer.
The ESPYS, a sports awards program produced by ESPN, is honoring Summitt with its Arthur Ashe Courage Award. The award is presented each year to individuals whose contributions transcend sports. Summitt stepped down as the Lady Vols head coach to focus on her fight with early onset dementia, Alzheimer's type.
Previous recipients of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award include Muhammad Ali, Jim Valvano, and Billie Jean King. The ESPYS can be seen on July 11th.
