Police identify woman found dead in Motel 6 parking lot

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Police Dept. has identified the woman whose body was found in the parking lot of a north Knoxville hotel early Saturday morning. An officer found 41 year-old Tracie Ann Potts in the passenger seat of the vehicle shortly before 7:00 a.m.

According to police, a guest at the Motel 6, 5640 Merchants Center Blvd., spotted Potts body in the motel parking lot and told an employee. The employee called 911 after going out to check on her and finding her unresponsive.

Investigators are still trying to determine how she died, noting there is no immediate evidence of trauma or violence.
