Victim's identity released in East Knoxville murder investigation

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- While police continue their investigation after a man is found dead inside an SUV, we've learned the victim's name.

Knoxville Police tell us that 37-year-old Leslie Byford IV's death is being investigated as a murder.

Investigators say they are still tracking down leads and have interviewed people who may know something about the crime.

But so far, no one has been charged in connection with the crime.

Byford's body was found after police were called to Bonnie View Drive on Saturday night, after someone reported a possible shooting.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Knoxville Police are investigating a murder in East Knoxville.

KPD says they got a call about a possible shooting around 8:30 Saturday night on, on Bonnie View Avenue.

When officers got to the scene they found a man dead in a gold SUV.

Investigators are talking to possible witnesses.

The body has been taken to the UT Forensic Center for an autopsy. The SUV has been towed to another location to be processed for possible clues.

The victim's identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
