Police search for Harlan County inmate who escaped work release

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT/WVLT) -- Police are looking for an inmate who walked away from work release in the Black Mountain Section of Harlan.

They say 28-year-old Micheal Day escaped work release around 2:30 PM Tuesday.

He was last seen on Old School House Road.

They say Department of Corrections Officers approved him to work outside Monday.

It was his first day of work release Tuesday afternoon.

Officers say he is not considered dangerous.

Deputies are bringing dogs out to search for Day.
