The University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Marching Band took part in the Inauguration Day parade for the twelfth consecutive time Tuesday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- For over 50 years UT's marching band has been a part of the Presidential Inauguration Parade but this year that won't be the case.

The Dobyns Bennett High School from Kingsport will represent the state this year.

While the university is happy that Tennessee will be represented; they're disappointed they won't be able to continue the long standing tradition.

UT Band Director Gary Sousa said "Going as the flagship university was an opportunity to show the very best of what the state has to offer. This opportunity wasn't about being in the public eye for us; it was a duty and to have that taken away from us is very difficult."

The band plans to apply again in four years.
