KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Inside the walls of Children's Hospital, a new breed of employees is changing perceptions.
The hospital's seven Project SEARCH interns are all adult women born with some kind of intellectual disability.
At the hospital, they learn skills like stocking, turning over rooms, or changing linens after a patient leaves. Some are certified so they can help with patient transport.
Project SEARCH hopes to give people with disabilities independence, purpose and of course -- a few smiles.
