KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Publix will host a job fair on Tuseday for the first of three grocery stores its opening in Knoxville, the company announced. The chain will be taking applications at the Holiday Inn Downtown Knoxville from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
A spokesperson for the company said they plan to hire around 80 people following the job fair. In all, the store will employ between 150 and 200 workers, some of whom will be transferring from other stores.
In particular, the company is looking for experienced cake decorators, meat cutters, bakers, deli, produce, seafood, bakery clerks, and stock clerks. They plan on scheduling another job fair for entry-level and customer service positions.
Publix isn't hiring solely for its Northshore store either. Some of those hired will start there, but will eventually move on to the company's second Knoxville store at Turkey Creek. A spokesperson said they are still hoping to open the first store in late July.
Eventually, the company also plans to open a third location at University Commons.
