PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A record number of people have signed up to vote in next month's liquor by the drink referendum in Pigeon Forge.

The Sevier County Election Commission says 3,862 residents have signed up to vote, while 387 property owners have registered. That's up from the 3, 079 residents and 267 property owners signed up to vote in the November election.

"There's still a few that we're having to get deeds from and that'll add to this property," said Ronee Flynn, the Sevier County Elections Director. "But there's not a large number."

The elections director says this has become one of the most debated referendums she's seen in the county.
"I've been through Sevierville's liquor by the drink and it was pretty heated too, but it was not to the point that I think Pigeon Forge is," said Flynn.

Pigeon Forge voters will decide if liquor should be served in restaurants on March 14th. Also, the city will elect 2 city commissioners. Right now 8 people are running for those seats.
