KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Emma Giacona, the 7-year-old lemonade stand girl who always wanted to take a Disney cruise, is at last getting her wish thanks to a handful of generous community members and one very kind Nashvillian.
Emma underwent multiple surgeries earlier this year at East Tennessee Children's Hospital to remove abscesses in her brain and neck. While she was hospitalized and her health appeared dire, she and her family applied to the Make-A-Wish Foundation with hopes it would cover a cruise trip.
But then her health improved and she was able to get out of the hospital. Ed Alison, 66, read Emma's story.
After several phone conversations with the family, the Nashville man went to a local Nashville AAA travel agency and made arrangements to send Emma on the cruise that had been her dream since she was 3 years old.
