Man rescued after getting trapped in a South Knoxville cave

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- It took rescue workers about an hour to free a man stuck in a South Knoxville cave.

Captain D.J. Corcoran, with the Knoxville Fire Department, confirms that friends with the trapped man called 911 around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

Around 15 people were part of the rescue crew that was called to the scene near Cherokee Trail and Spruce Ridge Way.

Rescuers lowered something called a "medical gator" into the cave to help free the man.

The victim was not hurt.
