A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT is in effect into Wednesday due repeated rainfall. A Flood Watch is in effect for our area until 7 AM Wednesday. Where there are more pauses in the rain, totals will be closer to 2 inches but some will receive at least 4 inches of rainfall total. Creeks and streams run high and areas with poor runoff could face flooding problems. Busy commute hours could face more slowdowns, with fog and standing water on roads as well.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The City of Sevierville is moving forward with plans to improve an intersection where several deadly crashes have happened.
The city plans to raise a section of New Era Road east of Lewelling road to improve sight distance. The city plans to contract with TDOT for the repairs.
In 2010 the City requested assistance with the intersection due to safety concerns. TDOT Project Planning reviewed the crash data and the location qualified for the High Risk Rural Roads (HRRR) safety program.
The road improvements will start later this year, early next year and will require some Right of Way Acquisition and utility changes to make way for the changes.
The preliminary estimate of cost for construction, utilities and ROW is approximately $250,000.
