Alzheimer's Tennessee's "We Back Pat" banner (WVLT/Donn Boughton)
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Leaders of the Pat Summit Foundation drew a huge crowd Tuesday in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame to announce the start to this year's "We Back Pat" partnership with the SEC.
17 schools are expected to participate in 14 cities as every SEC women's basketball game promotes awareness of the foundation and its mission.
Players will wear shirts for warmups as will fans.
"The 'We Back Pat' Week not only brings public attention to our cause, but it also helps raise funds that will be awarded by our foundation in the form of grants to organizations who battle this disease every day," said Pat Summit.
This year, supporters can donate by texting the word "COACH" to 50555 to gift $10 to the foundation.
The 'We Back Pat' game is Sunday at Thompson-Boling Arena. The Lady Vols will face Alabama. Tipoff is at 1pm.
