UPDATE: Couple hurt when SUV rolls off I-75 onto Emory Rd.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A husband and wife had to be cut from their SUV after it flipped several times off an I-75 overpass and landed alongside Emory Road during Wednesday morning rush hour, according to the Knoxville Police Dept. Both the driver, Melissa Marlow, and her husband, Christopher, were taken to U.T. Medical Center for treatment.

According to police, the Marlows were heading south on I-75 around 7:15 a.m. when their Ford Explorer swerved to the inside lane to avoid hitting a slowing vehicle. It skidded along the top of the guardrail before flipping several times.

The SUV plunged down the embankment between the northbound and southbound lanes. A guardrail prevented the Explorer from landing on Emory Road.

Both of them were wearing seat belts. Melissa Marlow was cited for driving without a license.
