Second horse trailer wreck for Three Angels Farm

Posted: Tue 9:36 PM, Jun 12, 2012

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the second time in 6 months, a trailer full of horses, owned by Three Angels Farm in Lebanon, wrecked on a busy Nashville highway.

Traffic was slowed on Tuesday afternoon after the horse trailer wrecked on Interstate 440 westbound, south of downtown Nashville.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. at the split from I-24, near mile marker 7.

No injuries were reported, but several police cruisers and TDOT incident trucks were on the scene as they worked to clear the scene.

Officials said the horses were being taken from Lebanon to Texas. Police said there was no collision with another vehicle, the trailer just somehow gave way. Thirty-six of the horses inside had to be moved to another trailer while one had to be euthanized when it couldn't stand up.

Police said the trailer belonged to Three Angels Farms in Lebanon. In January, a tractor trailer from Three Angels Farms hauling 36 horses overturned on Interstate 40 outside Nashville. Approximately 36 horses were on board at the time of the crash. Four of them died in the crash.

Initially two lanes were blocked while crews worked to clear the scene.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol were inspecting the truck and said that charges could be filed pending the results of the investigation.
