SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (Reprinted)- After a two day trial, a Sevier County jury convicted Ernest Pyle of two counts of Especially Aggravated Kidnapping and one count of Resisting Arrest.
These offenses happened in Pigeon Forge, at the Grand Inn Hotel. During the trial, the evidence showed Pyle and his girlfriend were 'on the run' from charges he faced in Ripley County, Indiana. His girlfriend decided that she wanted to go back to Indiana, Pyle then attacked, strangled and beat her. He then held her against her will for five days at the hotel. He handcuffed, raped and threatened her life with various tools he purchased including: a hammer, pliers and a drop cloth.
The trial ended November 16th and Detective Kenny Bean of the Pigeon Forge Police Department investigated this case.
Pyle will be sentenced by the Honorable Richard R. Vance, Circuit Court judge on January 23, 2013 where he faces 15-25 years on the Especially Aggravated Kidnapping convictions and 11 months and 29 days on the Resisting Arrest Conviction.
