SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Sevier County Commission has voted to buy land off Interstate 40 to build a new industrial park.

County commission voted 14-11 for the new 115 acre land purchase. Commissioners had been reviewing the deal for months. The group agreed to pay $65,000 per acre with some preparation work.

Sevier County Economic Development officials are looking for an area to build a new industrial park. Right now the county has 5 acres of land available for a company to build on, but many companies are looking for much more land.

The site the county is looking to acquire, will need some upgrade along with the roads leading there. Newton says the county will need to figure out how to pay for all of the infrastructure improvements needed once the land deal is finalized.
