What about that 20% who depend on the bus service to get to school? When I was a youngster going to school, my mother didn't drive. Therefore, I guess I would have been left behind. There might have just been a speck of snow at your house (and around most of the town/county), but there could have been roads still completely covered where the sun doesn't get to. Way too dangerous to risk for kids to just go to school on scheduled days. I'm sure the county has a back-up plan.

My granddaughtee attends kindergarden at South Elementry School in Crossville. She has missed 18days of school this month. What is the District going to do to make up the lost education time? The President went on about keeping up with education, this is an example of why our children are behind. Why are the schools closed at a speck of snow? Instead of closing school, just say schools open no bus service. 80% of the kids are driven to school anyway. I find it totally unacceptable that schools have been closed for most of the month of January.
