ALCOA, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Sevierville senior was killed when the car in which she was riding turned into a hotel parking lot without yielding, according to the Alcoa Police Dept. Seventy-one year-old Clara Limerick died instantly in the crash; the driver, Joseph Limerick, 69, was rushed to Blount Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
An investigation revealed they were heading south in a Chevrolet Cavalier on Alcoa Highway shortly before 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon when Limerick went to turn into the Days Inn parking lot. Authorities said he didn't stop for an oncoming Cadillac Escalade, driven by 33 year-old Christy Martin.
Martin was also taken to Blount Memorial Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
All three of them were wearing seatbelts, according to police.
