Crimetracker: Girl punches attacker in nose, escapes at William Blount High

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A punch to the nose helped a 12 year girl escape from an attack at William Blount High School Tuesday night, according to the Blount Co. Sheriff's Office.

The girl told police she was was in a stairwell by the gym Tuesday evening around 8 o'clock when a man in his early to mid-30's grabbed her and tried pulling her down the stairs.

That's when she said she punched him in the nose and he took off down the stairs, getting into a passenger side of a black sedan and taking off.

The sheriff's office says the girl was in the gym last night for a volleyball tournament at the high school.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early to mid-thirties, about 5'8 to 5'10" tall with short brown hair. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
