Man shot in East Knoxville, suspect turns himself in

A man suspected of shooting another man in East Knoxville Sunday afternoon has turned himself into police.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A man suspected of shooting another man in East Knoxville Sunday afternoon has turned himself into police.

The crime happened near the intersection of Langland Street and Henrietta Avenue.

Officers say the man was shot inside his car, and he was taken to U.T. Medical Center by Rural-Metro.

Michael Smith, of Knoxville, was later arrested when he turned himself in.

He has been charged with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.

No word on the victim's condition.
