Small plane goes down in South Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A small plane went down near 5800 Martin Mill Pike Thursday evening.

The single engine aircraft took off from Island Home Airport.

Rescuers tell us the engine died, then the plane clipped a utility, took out power lines and clipped a tree before crashing into a front yard.

The pilot was the only person on board. He suffered a broken leg and some cuts.

He has been identified as Quentin Elkins of Andersonville.
