NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The public policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention has announced its legislative goals for 2011.
They include:
--Reinstating a ban on funding for groups that provide abortions overseas.
--Ending funding for Planned Parenthood.
--Repealing and replacing health care reform.
--Passing a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
--Passing a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced federal budget limited to 20 percent of gross domestic product, with some exceptions.
The goals were published Monday on the website of the SBC's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission.
The Nashville-based SBC is the largest Protestant denomination in the U.S., with almost 16.2 million members.
