COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)-- An early morning crash left one person dead and six others injured, including three children.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Dodge van was hit head-on by another SUV near near mile marker 438 on I-40 at 5:15 a.m. Saturday.
The van's driver, Kristy Lynn Jones of Ohio, died on the scene. There were four other passengers in the car who were injured, including three children ages, 11, 13 and a 22-month-old.
Dan Williams, the driver of the SUV, was also injured in the crash. Authorities requested a drug and alcohol test.
Williams condition as of Sunday morning was upgraded from critical to serious.
According to THP, charges are pending.
