TN Valley Fair presents donation to Love Kitchen sisters

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The sisters who run the Love Kitchen got a big boost for their operations on Tuesday morning.

The Tennessee Valley Fair and its partners presented Helen Ashe and Ellen Turner with a check for $5,830. The funds were raised during Love Kitchen Wristband Day at the fair. That day, one dollar from each ride wristband sold at the fair was designated to benefit the Love Kitchen.

Through their organization, Ashe and Turner provide meals, clothing and emergency services to homebound, homeless and unemployed individuals and families in the Knoxville area. The Love Kitchen works with other local agencies to provide the services and promote self-sufficiency in the community.

Fair officials also donated $1,500 to HonorAir Knoxville.
