PARIS, Tenn. (AP) — A woman who skipped her trial on misdemeanor animal cruelty charges has been found in Illinois and returned to Tennessee.
Police arrested 68-year-old Cheryl A. Kidd of Paris, Tenn., on Friday morning in Metropolis, Ill. Henry County, Tenn., deputies transported Kidd back to Tennessee, where she was being held on charges of animal cruelty, allowing animals to run at large and failure to appear.
Kidd had been detained Thursday by Illinois authorities after they received a governor's warrant.
Police found about 30 dogs with dirty water, inadequate food and shelter at her residence. One dead dog was found in an outdoor pen.
A bench warrant was issued after Kidd failed to show up for her July 17 trial.
Kidd's bond was set at $20,000.
