Alcohol suspected in fatal three car collision in Morristown

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (WVLT) Three cars collided Friday night in Morristown, leaving one dead and sending two to the hospital.

It happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. on East Andrew Johnson Highway in front of Russellville Elementary School.

Police say a Chevy pick up driven by Jerry Sutton of Morristown was headed west when it hit a semi rig head on in the east bound lane. The semi, driven by Jimmy Fergerson of Bean Station, jack knifed hitting a third car before rolling over on it.

The driver of the third car was pronounced dead at the scene. That victim's name has not been released.

Ferguson and Sutton were both transported to area hospitals with non life threatening injuries.

There are no charges at this time, but the investigation continues. Police believe alcohol was a factor.
