Two West Knoxville businesses clean up after break-in

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Jeremy Norris spends most of his afternoons dancing, but he spent most of Monday afternoon cleaning the mess a burglar left behind.

"The front door was kicked in. They didn't get through the door but the window shattered. They used a 5 to 10 pound rock to get through the window," Norris said.

Norris, the owner of Academy Ballroom, told Local 8 News the break-in happened Friday morning around 8:30 a.m. What the crook didn't know, it was all caught on video.

"They destroyed all kind of property to get to something that wasn't that expensive. The window cost about $900, the door about $400. The TV was $200," Norris said. "I just don't understand how some people can grab someone's belongings and seem that comfortable walking out with someone else's stuff."

Academy Ballroom wasn't the only target. Westerm Plaza Barber Shop was also hit early Friday morning.

They had no surveillance video but a shattered front door, a missing TV and a few other hair supplies.

The shop's owner quickly replaced the door but the theft remained the topic of conversation over the weekend.

According to Norris, police told him a suspect was taken into custody Friday afternoon.
