KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- UT Federal Credit Union is already getting ready for a blizzard-- a paper blizzard, that is. Visitors to any branch between now and the end of the year can help support East Tennessee Children's Hospital when they buy a paper snowflake.
Each snowflake costs a dollar. People who buy them can write their names on the snowflakes, which will then be displayed inside the credit union. The money raised will help buy needed supplies for children at the hospital, and each dollar can go a long way toward making a difference. For instance:
· Wee Pee sized diapers, for babies weighing less than 800 grams, cost $0.41
· Preemie sized diapers, for babies weighing up to 4 pounds, cost $0.50
· Size 1 blood pressure cuffs for the smallest child patients, cost $1.08
· Baby blankets in the Neonatal and Infant Critical Care Unit, cost $4.00
The snowflakes will be part of the UTFCU display for the Credit Unions for Kids Holiday Icon Campaign. The goal is to sell 200 snowflakes, but UTFCU hopes to get that number up to 2,000.
Donations will help ETCH pay for care, research, equipment, and other programs including those listed above.
