UT expects 7 sorority houses to be ready this fall

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The University of Tennessee expects seven sorority houses to be completed this fall in Knoxville as Sorority Village opens its initial structures for the fall semester.

Sorority Village will have 13 houses and one administrative/meeting building once it is completed next year.

The chapters with houses opening in the first phase are Delta Zeta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, Delta Delta Delta, Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Kappa.

Work began on the Sorority Village infrastructure in 2009; planning dates back six years.

Houses were bid as separate projects through the state Building Commission; the university is managing the construction contracts.
