Vacant home in Oak Ridge destroyed in early morning fire

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- A vacant home burned to the ground early Sunday morning.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. on the 100 block of Hillside Road in Oak Ridge.

According to Battalion Chief Jody Durham with the Oak Ridge Fire Department, the home was up in flames and spotted from a nearby high school. He told Local 8 News the people who lived there moved out the day before the fire broke out.

No injuries were reported. The house is a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
