Police identify victim in deadly crash in north Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Police Dept. has identified the everyone involved in Wednesday's deadly head-on collision in north Knoxville. One of the passengers, forty-eight year-old Sharon Barison, was killed in the crash.

Police say she was riding in a Monte Carlo when it smashed into a minivan on Clinton Highway shortly before 8:30 a.m. Another passenger, 21 year-old Jessica Ivey, was seriously hurt as well. The car's driver, James Daugherty, 51, was also taken to UT Medical Center where he was treated with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the oncoming Toyota Sienna, 69 year-old Gabriel Ferrari, was not hurt in the wreck.

A spokesperson for the police department said the investigation is still ongoing, but they believe speed was a factor in the crash. He said charges are pending. They are just waiting for the investigation to wrap-up.

Investigators also noted non of the occupants of the Monte Carlo were wearing their seat belts.
