TEN MILE, Tenn., (WVLT) -- A Ten Mile man faces kidnapping and assault charges after a woman told police he held her and beat her for two days straight. During her interview with police the victim showed investigators multiple bruises on her hips, thighs, and legs and said she was also beaten with a rubber hose.

Police first learned of the alleged attack when the victim's mother called the Roane Co. Sheriff's Office shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The mother told police her daughter had possibly taken up to 20 Valium and had been held hostage for two days by Tobey Yates. She also cautioned them that Yates may be armed.

Given Yates previous arrests on gun-related charges several deputies responded to the home, 233 Dogtown Road, where they believed they detected the smell of methamphetamine. Searching the home, the deputies couldn't find either Yates or the victim, but her mother arrived shortly and directed them toward a home on Ponders Gap Road.

There, deputies found the victim inside the home, despite being told by Yates that she had left earlier in the day. That's when the victim recounted her story for authorities before being taken to the Roane Medical Center.

Based on those statements, Yates was initially charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Kidnapping. A search of his body turned up some small blue pills, tentatively identified as Diazepam, adding Simple Posession to his charges. He was taken to the Roane Co. Detention Center, where he is being held on $30,000 bond.
