TOWNSEND, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Virginia man was injured in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon, according to Great Smoky Mountains National Park spokeswoman Dana Soehn.
The 19-year-old was airlifted by Lifestar to UT Medical Center after the accident, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Little River Road between the Sinks and Meigs Falls, about one-half mile west of the Sinks.
Soehn said the man was a passenger in a pickup truck with two other male occupants and was sitting on the far right passenger side of the bench seat.
The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Little River Road and hit a tree on the passenger's side, running off the roadway.
The driver and other passenger in the car were not injured in the wreck.
Soehn said the 19-year-old was listed in very serious condition as of about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
